The bag is 8' long allowing for ample
space for people with large bodies. This bag can also be used as a vapor
barrier liner (VBL) inside of down sleeping bags in extreme cold conditions.
The body has two types of persperation - sensible (sweat) and insensible
(moisture to keep the skin soft). We do not realize that in extreme cold,
there is very little moisture in the air, therefore the body sends moisture
to the surface of the skin to maintain the skin's normal humidity level.
When we first get into our sleeping bags, they are warm. Throughout the cold
nights, they can then become cold, because the moisture that our body sends
to our skin evaporates into the sleeping bag. This moisture conducts the
heat out and the cold in! By using a VBL inside of the sleeping bag, our
bodies perspire insensibly to the normal skin humidity level, and this bag
prevents this perspiration from evaporating into the sleeping bag. The skin
stays moist; the body stops perspiring; the sleeping bag stays dry, and you
stay warm. |
